Statistical Programming Workshops

  • DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING RESPONSE REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.  We will be offering these workshops again Spring 2018.
  • The ASL will be offering 4-part workshops for R and SAS. 
  • All workshops will take place in the Multi-Disciplinary Sciences building, room 335, from 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm.

Introduction to SAS - Monday, October 30, 2017
This workshop focuses on becoming familiar with the SAS system.  You will learn how to create a basic data step, and run the import, frequency, format, sort, means, and glm procedures.
Led by Kristen McQuerry and assisted by Tiantian Zeng.

Plotting Data in SAS - Wednesday, November 1, 2017
This workshop focuses on plotting with SAS.  You will learn how to make histograms, boxplots, bar chart, pie chart, and scatter plots.
Led by Eric Roemmele and assisted by Shaowli Kabir.

Introduction to Statistical Analyses in SAS - Friday, November 3, 2017
This workshop focuses on performing basic statistical analyses with SAS.  You will learn how to perform a one-sided t-test, two-sided t-test, ANOVA, and linear regression.
Led by Jiaying Weng and assisted by Yan Xu.

Introductory Programming Techniques in SAS - Monday, November 6, 2017
This workshop focuses on data management techniques with SAS.  You will learn how to create new variables, change variable formats, and transpose data.
Led by Kristen McQuerry and assisted by Ya Qi.

Introduction to R - Wednesday, November 8, 2017
This workshop focuses on becoming familiar with R Studio.  You will learn how to set your working directory, import data, basic data checks, and exporting data.
Led by Jin Xie and assisted by Chenlu Ke.

Statistical Workshop for High School and Undergraduate Students

The ASL will be offering a workshop for high school and undergraduate students.  At this workshop, students will learn about what a statistician does, requirements to pursue higher education in statistics, and introductory statistical programming techniques. 

This workshop will run from Monday, May 22 - Wednesday, June 7 (excluding Memorial Day) from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm in the Multidisciplinary Sciences building, room 333.  Parking information can be found HERE.

Participants must register to attend, and those participants under 18 years old must have a parent/guardian register for them.  Register HERE.  Questions?  Contact asl@uky.edu.

 

Pilots and Pizza

Pilots & Pizza is a regular series offered by the BERD focusing on study design and development. Many of the workshops offered by BERD are great tools to those that are utilizing the ASL. Past topics include Ethics of Data Analysis, Survey Design and Analysis, and Introduction to Structural Equation Modeling.
